Bryant baseball to play NC State in Raleigh Regional

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WPRI) — The show goes on for the Bryant baseball team, as they drew NC State in the first round of the NCAA Raleigh Regional.

The Bulldogs are coming off a special weekend, winning the America East for the first time in program history, and this will be their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2016.

Bryant, who has won an impressive 36 games thus far, is hoping they can continue their success down in North Carolina.

“We started this journey back in September and we all had a common goal to have a party like this and to see our name called up on the TV and to see that happen is a surreal moment for us,” said Brandyn Durand, a Bishop Hendricken graduate. “Finally realizing we accomplished what we set out to accomplish and now anything from here on out we just got to enjoy it and every moment and ultimately do some damage in the tournament.”

For their head coach, Ryan Klosterman, seeing his team celebrate brought him joy as he’s seen his players put in the hard work to get to this point. He’s also seen different players step up throughout the season.

“A collective group of leadership is how we talk about it,” said Klosterman. “We don’t have captains, we have a lot of guys with a voice who are committed to winning and care about the program.”

The Bulldogs and Wolfpack will meet at at 7 p.m. on Friday night.
