Redwood City woman arrested for engulfing car in flames

(KRON) — Police arrested a woman for arson relating to setting a car on fire on Wednesday, the Redwood City Police Department said.

Police received reports of a fire in the parking lot of 1107 Second Ave. in Redwood City. The caller who reported the fire also provided the description of a “suspicious” woman who was loitering near the fire, police said. Officers were then dispatched to investigate the incident.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers located the initial fire and “a vehicle fully engulfed by flames.” They also located and immediately detained the woman, who was later identified as Amber Devisser, a 33-year-old Redwood City resident.

Investigators later contacted the witness, who was able to provide a video recording of Davisser apparently starting the fire in the parking lot, police said. The video also showed Devisser pouring an unknown flammable liquid onto a nearby car, which then ignited into flames, police said.

Police also later found out that Devisser was out on bail from a previous felony criminal case. Devisser was arrested for felony arson, resisting arrest and committing a felony crime while on a felony bail. She was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility.
