RI’s 3rd Shake Shack planned for Warwick

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Island appears poised to get its third Shake Shack — this time in Warwick.

It looks like the burger chain has taken up residence where the former TGI Fridays used to be off of Centerville Road. The former restaurant, which abruptly closed in February 2020, has since been torn down and another building was constructed in its place.

The new building has been split in half, with one side covered in Shake Shack’s lime green signage and the other adorned with the logo of a new veterinary clinic.

It’s unclear when the Shake Shack will open, but the restaurant’s signage indicates that it will have a drive-thru.

Shake Shack just started adding drive-thrus to its restaurants last year, and only a dozen or so nationwide have them.

12 News has reached out to Shake Shack for more information regarding the new restaurant but has not yet heard back.

This will be Shake Shack’s third restaurant in Rhode Island. The first opened up on Thayer Street back in March 2019, and the second moved into Garden City Center just last year.

Shake Shack is well-known for its 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches and griddled flat-top dogs, fresh-made frozen custard shakes and crispy crinkle cut fries.
